The 4th General Assembly of NCCN elected new dynamic executive committee to assume executive responsibility for the coming 3-year working term

The National Council of Churches of Nepal (NCCN) has been working as a representative body of Christians in Nepal to unite scattered churches and challenge them to be actively involved in different socio-political and developmental issues of the Nepal. It has played a great role in the peace process of Nepal by campaigning for peace, justice and Human rights at national and international level. NCCN has a pioneering role to initiate inter-religious activities in Nepal for peace, justice, human rights and communal harmony. As the result of

NCCN's continu ous efforts for interfaith cooperation an inter-religious organization called Inter-religious Council of Nepal (IRCN) was formed which has representation of all religious communities in Nepal. Now it is working as the common voice of religious communities for peace, justice and human rights. It has played significant role in the peace process of Nepal.

Within a short span of time NCCN has succeeded in uniting and organizing the Christians in Nepal, making the Church in Nepal visible in the society, bringing recognition and respect for the Christian community, contributing significantly to the peace building process, uniting the various religious groups in Nepal to work for peace and other common issues and networking with the Churches and ecumenical agencies at the sub-regional, regional and global level.

In the back ground of such encouraging achievements and new challenges to work for sustainable peace and just-society mobilizing Christian community as well as developing more strong  working relation with other religious communities and networking at national and international level  NCCN's 4th General Assembly  was successfully held in kathmandu on 9 September 2007. The assembly approved last year's progress report as well as financial report presented by the general secretary.  It has developed and approved a programme and budget for the coming fiscal year.

 

As the 3-year working term of the last executive committee was over by this month, the General assembly has also elected 11-member new dynamic committee to assume the responsibility of taking the work of NCCN ahead.

The name and designation of the newly elected executive committee is as written below;

At the end of the assembly the office bearers of the newly elected executive committee took the oath of responsibility in the presence of assembly members making  their strong commitment to work whole heartedly with their full knowledge and power to promote the work of NCCN.
